So, I'm a truck driver. I'm in a different city every day except for a few days a week I'm at home.
I have money. When im working it's 14+ hours a day 6 days a week and church and laundry and shopping all day on Sunday. When im home I have time. And I'm really lonely.
I have been alone so long I really just can't walk up to a group of girls at a bar and start talking to them. I have no idea how and when I have tried it goes really badly. I'm awkward enough one on one with someone I know has some common interest.
I add girls on Facebook. Sometimes I feel like we'd get along. We like similar things, I like what they post, we have short exchanges in comments.
But how do I get from there to "do you want to actually meet up in real life?"
Personally I have always hated texting. Phone calls are like asking a girl to clean my gutters now and I don't understand that but I have accepted its not a thing people my age do anymore.
But if I ask someone to meet up in person I usually get the creep treatment. I'm sure I'm not good at it. But honest truth I just want to have some female friends my own age. There is a girl I really like. It's not working out. I'm just trying to go have good experiences with other people.
I don't want to have sex with strangers or even really jump into dating someone. I just want to learn how to be friends with girls my age.
Women in their 60's coo over me and talk about how good of a husband and father I will be. And I know they are right. But I'm able to talk to them. They are, for lack of a better term, not totally fucked in the head by social media and pop culture.
I'm not ugly. I take showers before I go out to hang out with people. I could find hookups if I wanted but tbh those girls aren't really what I'm looking for in a friend or possible partner.
How can I get better at meeting people online and then making that transition to being actual friends who talk to each other and hang out in real life?

Given your work schedule, it's probably not realistic for you to join any clubs or groups with people who have similar interests.
And your experience in trying to meet women online isn't likely to ever get better.
