Is it bad to only hang out with someone when you have free time?

Whenever I hang out with this guy it’s whenever I have free time like days I’m off. I don’t like to hang out with him before work or the night before I have to get up early around 5am. He gets up upset when I only want to hang out during those days.

Why are you in a relationship? You clearly don't have the time to be in one and if you aren't going to make sacrifices here and there to see someone before or after work.

I used to get up at 5am for work and I would have to travel over an hour to work but I still managed to find time after work to see the guy I was seeing. Even if I was tired.

Well you should try one night during the week to hang out if he is your boyfriend, you’re still young and can deal with one day of less sleep the next day for work, i used to when i was your age see my my girlfriend one night during the week

Nothing wrong with that, you can't hang out with him while you are at work.
People are busy, hopefully he enjoys the time you do have together.

For the most part, I would be fine with that, but it would be cool if she made an exception for me every once in a while.
