For hundreds of thousands of years, the beauty of a rainbow has elicited joy and wonder. As exquisitely beautiful natural phenomena, they appear mysteriously and fade away. Before the properties of light were understood, they were given metaphysical significance. So, it’s not surprising that many are intrigued with rainbow meanings, mythology, and folklore.

When a rainbow appears, it marks the transition between a rainstorm and the sun coming out in a dazzling array of beautiful colors. Thus, rainbow symbolism includes hope, optimism, and the promise of good things to come.

One might seek a pot of gold or good fortune at the rainbow's end.

When children make crayon drawing of their families with a house, a tree and green grass, they put the sun in the sky with an overarching rainbow to symbolize security and happiness.

Rainbows are often associated with spiritual or mystical experiences and they are often described as a bridge between Earth and sky, Heaven and Earth, the physical and supernatural worlds. For example, when we say a person or pet has crossed the Rainbow Bridge, it means their soul has transitioned from their physical body to their spiritual existence.

In the Bible, the rainbow is a symbol of God’s promise to humankind. For example, in Genesis, God says, “I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind."

But, the beautiful natural phenomenon was co-opted 45 years ago as the symbol for sexual deviance. One cannot see a depiction of a rainbow without thinking that it means solidarity with trans and queer ideology. How sad.

And children who love rainbows will subliminally associate them with LGBTQ and think that LGBTQ.

And children who love rainbows will subliminally associate the positive feelings they have for rainbows with LGBTQ. It's a very, very pernicious strategy.

You can no longer look at a depiction of a rainbow without associating it with the LGBTQ movement.

You can't display a rainbow or rainbow colors without being associated as an ally.

All this angers and saddens me.

Same all the hate ruined rainbows for me!

You can't be you but someone they approve of or you hate them!

My cousin and 2 friends got way to into it and hated me for being straight. I had to be some other label or I hated them!

Cause my sexuality affected them some how.

Well now they all have kids out of wed lick and are hateful even more and broke.

Cause they would not listen to any advice about Thier dates or safe sex...

But their hate ruined rainbows for me!
