Ok I have 2 black friends and 1 black coworker. My co worker and 1 of my friends say that if they date a white girl the females in their family don’t like it and will tell them so. However they won’t or don’t have a problem going shopping or just hanging out with the girl friend. But they tell me that if a black man dates a white girl they’ll never hear the end of it. I think there full of shit. And my other black friend said he don’t know because he never dated a white girl but went on to say that his cousin did and his mother didn’t like it. He didn’t say because she was white or because she was a bitch. So what do you think?

Damn dude that's kinda messed up. I mean I get that different families have different traditions and stuff, but at the end of the day shouldn't it be about who makes someone happy, not what color they are? Like if your friends really care about these white girls they're dating, their moms shouldn't be giving them such a hard time just cuz the girls aren't black. Love is love, you know?

I think it probably just comes down to different generations - like the older family members who grew up in more racist times might still have some backwards views about "keeping it in the race." But your friends are right - in this day and age it shouldn't matter. As long as the girls treat your friends with respect and make them feel good, who cares what color skin they have? Family should support you finding someone who makes you happy.

It is kinda weird though that their moms will be cool being friends with the white girls but not dating them. Makes you wonder what their issue really is - is it just an old school mentality they can't let go of? Either way, your friends shouldn't have to feel ashamed or keep their relationships secret just to please their families. Maybe if the moms got to know the girls they'd realize they're just normal people who care about your friends. Hopefully the older folks will come around someday.

Yeah probably true. I’ve even seen and heard some black women whine and bitch online over black men who likes ”Becky” aka white women. Seems to be, judging from what those said, because why are they with white women as soon as they’re successful is black women not good enough or is just white women the prize why can’t black women also be the prize. And why are they with white women and betraying their black ”sisters” when ”Becky” is just racist and fetishize them and using him for dick and also because she wants a mixed kid as an accessory. So seems to be coming from a place of hurt and jealousy and over not feeling wanted even by their own race men. Like feeling of rejection. But yeah that’s just judging from what I’ve seen written or said by women like that.

I think it’s interesting that you count your black friends and coworkers. You may want to seek more diversity in your life too if there’s just the three. Ell oh ell! Just sayin’!
My experience suggests that they’re being perfectly honest with you. I’ve seen it myself. I’ve had friends, family and coworkers relate similar experiences. And i’ve experienced it myself when i dated a black woman. It’s actually a common trope in movies and TV shows too. Comedians joke about it. Talk shows have covered it topically. It’s pervasive enough that i’m surprised you’re unsure about it, but i don’t think it’s anywhere near universal. Sometimes it surprises people that some black people think and feel that way. Maybe because it’s blatantly racist, and the mainstream media has been trying to tell us that black people cannot be racist for years. Ell oh ell! I’m not mad. It hurts a little, cuz i really like black women. But to each their own.
