since most women LOVE to talk about themselves, almost guaranteed to get her to bring up one of her fav places, and if not, won't take that much of a push to get her to say.

I can't say that I've met any of the important loves of my life online, but I have met a few women on dating sites that I enjoyed dating and had a lasting relationship with even though they were not my soulmates.

I'm not sure I would describe it as desperate. There can be a number of reasons why people use social media to meet potential partners. When I was doing it I was working 80 hours a week and just didn't have the time to socialize enough to meet someone. I found the dating sites to be a quick way to get a chance to get together with someone and see if there's any chemistry.

I've met a number of very attractive women that way so I wouldn't say they were desperate either. They had their own reasons for using the dating sites.

So I don't think you can say that it's always a sign of desperation.

But you do have to ask yourself the question that if you meet someone that way are you prepared with the skills needed to socialize with them in person in a way that will bring you closer together with them. If you don't then I think you need to focus on that first before you focus on how to meet someone.

in my opinion it's desperate only bc people never portray themselves accurately on the sites, so you never REALLY know what you're getting (from what I'm told). I've personally not partaken after taking a preliminary look at what's available back when the apps were just starting out. The number of apps have more than tripled since the last time I looked at them, but based on what friends and family are complaining about in terms of how inept the apps all are... it's not something I'm likely to endorse or use. Organic meetups are best.

I used to think so when I was in Korea (my country) but here in Canada I find it interesting. There are some good looking guys online and there are websites for millionaires who show off their money to marry. I don’t know.. if you are wealthy enough to be in a yacht club then you will meet someone there no problem.
