My family basically pimped my oldest sister out for a plumber for awhile.

My dad sometimes worked with this young lad who was a plumber and owned a lot of rental properties. He was very much single at the time as we're me and my sisters and once my dad mentioned he needed some plumbing work done at his house that also housed his 3 single daughters there was no further questions asked 🤣

He took a very good liking to my oldest sister and even gave her some free furniture and a brand new fridge when she bought her house and offered to do some work for her for free just so he'd have a reason to see her. He claimed the furniture and thr fridge were from one of his rentals that wasn't being used as his tennant had bought there own stuff with them but I call bs.

My sister didn't really fancy him and he was still a little bit too old for any of us. Him probably being in his early to mid 30s at the time. Once he found out my oldest sister had gotten a boyfriend his work suddenly became busy again and he stopped coming round are house as much.

"Roster dating" is mostly an Internet myth. It's almost unheard of in real life.

It's very common, on the other hand, to get help from friends who are good at something.

I respectfully disagree; a sizable percentage of the female population is dating, or seeing more than one guy at a time, often with the second, more platonic guy being at least tangentially aware of the main guy’s presence. Remember, women date and bed largely whom they want, whereas men have relationships with whom they can. Which is more or less what you described above, because the second guy is friendzoned, to some degree or other.
