I think some people will always choose tinder because people are that intimidated by one on one experiences. Real life experiences. This goes for men and women both. The internet and social media has made it to where people would rather do everything online then do anything in the real world. For most men they'd rather do tinder because they're behind a keyboard or app and the rejection isn't as real to them as in person. Some Women like tinder because the rejection is behind an app and not in person so it's less awkward and scary. It also makes ghosting easy on both sides.

Catfish and fakes on tinder are probably high probability tho too. I avoid men who look like models or have photos that look too sheek or professionally done. I think filters is less of a thing on men's pics. Tho there have been some.

Ha ha you might be right, if she’s got a bad reputation on campus then she might not get approached that much. Think we all have learned that online profiles can be faked and even if the pics are real the person can lie and not represent their true selves online. @BarryLiverstone I get "approached" way more on tinder than in real life. I think people like the safe "I like you/you like me" from it where if say standing in line at a coffee shop you might think a guys cute and he likes you but it's unlikely anyone will approach the other. People are too scared of rejection. (Or I've heard men say a woman screaming eww creep).
Soo... it sucks there is so many fakes, bored people, cheaters, liars. Cos the concept is sound.

I believe you and my bestie also does the online dating so I’ve seen all the guys who message her online and what they say. Like you said it’s safer to approach online but with that safety you also have no risk / accountability. So while I’m sure you get lots of guys who reach out to you, are 1/100 quality matches? Jenn (my bestie) each time she binges in the sites gets about 300 guys in a week and maybe likes 4 of them enough to even reply.

by the way yes the idea of online dating is sound as you said but I’ve heard people get better results from paid sites. The free ones like tinder allow for all that fakeness you mentioned. If someone actually invests $ into a membership they are more serious and less likely to mess around out of boredom.

@BarryLiverstone yes and no with paid sittes. Guys pour money into porn sites, hookers, chat lines and all sorts so some may not be genuine still. But I guess does cut down on the fakes.
But likewise genuine nice guys who don't feel they get matches might not feel the expense to "get nothing" is worth it either...

And haha yh I can relate to Jenn. I get 100s' of likes within like an hour of joining. But rarely would I be interested in them back. Due to variety of reasons not just looks.

My fave analogy is men cast a net like fishing on dating apps. They want to see what they draw in even if not interested or compatible on further observation. Women on other hand are like hunters, we search carefully for our "target". If we want a lion we don't go shooting bears and giraffes as well only to discard them later.

That's why men get less matches. And women get lots of hopeless ones lol

Well... us women all all struggling (all ages) with finding men wanting to date with potential of relationship. Do they say "wanting relationship " on their profiles?
And like you see a lot.. young women often want an older guy. If she's like 19 she's grown up around these boys seeing them be immature and stupid and gross (no doubt). That's what I thought of college boys in my teens!! Funny how I've switched now.
