Does a guys career matter when dating?

I would hope not.
I say this as it ought to be something that MEN can now have the option to become stay at home householding adults like women have been allowed to do since forever. If a household can thrive on a single income then let it. Working for the sake of it is soul destroying unless you're in a job that you LOVE and few people are that lucky.

Before you say "just change jobs" that's redundant as changing jobs REQUIRES some source of income in order to retrain and start up. NO not everyone wants to have a boutique business that brings in single digit income or wants to work the crypto markets etc. to work from home. Being someone who wants to build a home is a valid enough reason to seek this.

Maybe not the career is important in a relationship or when dating but certainly to have a job. That is one of the prerequisites, at least for me, to have a steady income and not to be living off the hooks of family and/or friends.

You can still date when you are 18+ and be a student but you have to make sure that later in life, you are having a job. It does not have to be a career but a simple job keeping you afloat is a must.

Having a career often means sacrificing something in order to achieve that goal. Most probably that the relationship is the first one that will have to suffer under the stress.

I am not dating but if I had to, then I would probably not want someone that is career oriented because the relationship will always come second.

So men aren't allowed to want to be kept and be stay at home adults? House husbands are so unattractive to modern women who themselves got liberated from that role in spite of it being a role that should attract a high 6 figure salary as men have been told while they were oppressing women forever? SURELY being a homebody should be an attractive thing for the modern working woman. Come home to a clean, well maintained house with a cooked meal and fresh linen on the bed. All the laundry folded neatly and put away in HIS manner. Then the feet massages, and head rubs as he runs the bath for your weary legs and head.
As well as this the yard and vehicles would be in tip top shape and reliable. The garden with food plants and others for the local insect populations to thrive on.
You want that AND he's got to go our and work 50 hours a week?

@Shiprex No, that is not what I meant or even stated. I stated that

1. I am not interested in dating
2. If I had to date, then it would not be a career oriented person

Now, I have absolutely nothing against stay at home men but for that you need to fulfill 2 distinctive conditions.

a) Have a family, meaning a wife (or husband/partner) and most likely children and
b) Have a partner that is career oriented or at least brings the paycheck home.

Sorry but you said in your first post that he would have to "certainly have a job" or be studying in order to get one which contradicts the 2nd point above.
You're describing what's necessary for your situation that he should not be career oriented and what I was seeking was for clarity and opinion about, for a woman being the breadwinner in an unconventional arrangement of reversing stereotypical gender roles as a concept.
Not being against it is a fence sitting position that I think bringing out the idea of it in modern times will show traditional views from women more than not. That is why I brought it up.

Yeah for some. For me no his career doesn’t matter, but his income and ability and willingness to be a provider matters (as well as other things like personality, emotional availability, emotional intelligence, valaues, looks etc).
