What is her true motivation?

I’ve been talking to this one girl for over a year now but I question her feelings for me. In a year, we have only been in a handful of dates and whenever I try to plan a date, she acts excited about it but on the day of the date, she says something has come up and she can’t make it. I’ve been trying to talk to her about it but when I do, she says things like “oh don’t think that way. Of course I want to send time with you” but her actions don’t reflect her words. What is her true motivation?

She enjoys the attention and maybe even the company. In your age range unless she’s very attractive she probably doesn’t get a lot of options, not a lot of compliments and all the things you give her so she hangs onto that but it’s lacking intention. Her motives are selfish. You see that her actions aren’t matching her words and I think it’s very telling that she thinks it’s ok to flake on you each time you plan something. You can do better than that.

Thanks. I’ve been thinking about calling it off because of her behavior. One of the times she canceled on me was my birthday and that was kind of the last straw for me.
