What non-physical traits attracted you to someone before you even spoke?

I'm curious about those moments when you notice someone and feel drawn to them before any conversation happens. I'm talking about the things that go way beyond physical appearance.

Was it the way they moved through a room? Their genuine laugh? How they treated others? Maybe their energy or just something in their presence that felt magnetic?

What are those deeper qualities that made you want to know them?

There was a girl I saw almost twice a day for about half a year. I initially found her physically attractive. As I saw her more and more, I developed a crippling crush. Almost everything I saw from her made her more attractive. Her voice was soothing, and the way she dresses always made her look cute. Even her body language became enticing. Her whole vibe was immaculate, and all of my attention went towards her when I knew she was nearby.

For me, it’s usually their energy — like a calm confidence or warmth in the way they carry themselves. Sometimes it’s how they treat people when they don’t think anyone’s watching, or the way they genuinely smile or laugh. There’s something magnetic about kindness, presence, and quiet confidence — it just pulls you in without a word.

For sure I agree seeing someone whose genuine and authentic it’s not just about confidence either it also shows they aren’t disingenuous as well.

I like someone who has a edge to them (obviously a reasonable one) not someone who goes out of their own way to treat people like shit or be a bitch that’s not attractive. But someone whose not afraid to ruffle feathers when they need to. That shows someone’s authentic and not just being agreeable to get something they’re wanting out of you.

But to balance that is genuine kindness as well. You can tell when someone’s fake nice to people, talks all nice then goes behind their back to say stuff, or just whatever. Someone whose genuinely kind. Someone who when they see someone’s having a rough day can go out of their way to try to make it better because they genuinely care. Not just going through the motions to seem like a nice person.

Genuine laugh and sense of humor for sure. Not only do I love a woman that I can make laugh I love a woman even more who can also make me laugh.

But I agree too you can tell when a laugh or a smile is genuine or not. When someone’s eyes light up and they get super excited to see you.

Kindness. I met a man (on a professional level) in 2020 and had several meetings going into 2021, so we wore masks. Anyhow, he had the kindest voice and a large presence. I saw him later on the street (after masks) and didn’t know it was him until the person I was with pointed him out to me. He’s not someone I would have found attractive at first sight, but his gentle voice changes everything. We’re both married, so that’s a deal breaker. He’s a friend of a friend, so I’ll probably see/hear him again.

The way this one guy says hi... the deep soft tone he uses and the way he looks over as he says it. It's very sweet, though he claims he doesn't mean anything by it.

I would have no way of knowing, if I couldn’t consider looks or even hear them speak. It would be like being blind and deaf at the same time. Everything is a physical trait until you actually speak to someone because you’re simply observing them. The way they look, their smile, how they uphold themselves, how they dress, all these things are physical characteristics that you’re observing. If you can’t include any of that, and you can’t include their personality (how they speak and what you learn from them through speaking), I don’t know what I’d be basing my opinion on. I mean, even facial expressions (like trying to see what kind of mood they’re in) would still be physical traits.

Movement is kinda a physical trait influenced by personality. It does attract me. A male female difference is that connective tissue in female is more pliant than for males.

So a female body can and usually does move more fluidly - it is a cute as. Guys can throw spears further because being less pliant our legs and hips contribute to the throw.

I really like the way girls will talk with their hands and I like the extra dexterity women have.

Put that together in a package with a smile and I am hot for her.

Voices can be attractive. Like, I have practically developed crushes on female radio hosts/podcasters, just because their voices are super appealing. Without even knowing what they look like. They might be Jabba the Hutt...

Apart from that, I would say their presence. It can be the way they kind of hold back and observe in social situations, rather than be very aggressive and loud. It can be something about passion, like you can hear when discussing some subject that they are really passionate about it and have a tender heart.

Eye contact, obviously.

Confidence.

Voice and accent are sometimes a tasty treat about a woman. Like I love hearing Russian women speak Russian but not guys. Italian guys singing is one of the best things to hear for me but when I hear Italian spoken by women it does nothing.
