How do you define dating?

I say if a man and women spend time with one another, try to help each other, pay for each others food, etc. we’re are dating. A relationship is something else completely but dating is getting to know if there is romance.

Just for context:

She says we are friends, dating is something else (she a bit conservative and stubborn). Also believes that she will never change her mind. We have known each other for seven months now, but still puts up with my flirtation.

Dating is a stage of romantic relationship development where two people engage in shared social activities with the specific purpose of evaluating mutual compatibility. Anything else is just hanging out with friends.

To me, dating is when you've gone on multiple dates with someone and you're both romantically attracted to one another but haven't become a serious couple yet.

I define it as its actually defined. "a social or romantic appointment or engagement" it doesn't matter what the intention is.
