What did you never expect to enjoy but ended up loving a lot?

We had a day trip from work for Team Building and I love those so went along happily…

At the end of the day we tried archery and off-roading. I loved both, but contrary to my earlier belief that I’d be much better at archery, actually I was just amazing at off-roading and I realized, I always liked horse riding, karting and now here’s off-roading on my list. I think I like it even much more than karting.

I’ve never been a sporty person. Any sport we played at school I was terrible at but either after I graduated high school or just after it my mom signed me up for curling. I never curled before. I went in expecting to be very bad at it and hate it but that’s not what happened. I was actually decent at it. Not good, per se but not terrible and because I wasn’t terrible I actually did like it and I completed the season. Although it went well, I decided not to continue with it.

In other sports I was always cut from the team or I would just quit.

I don’t think I’ve ever had a turnaround quite like that. I consider myself mostly open minded in the context of trying new things but when I’m dead set against it I’m never going to try it !! , so it’s never played out like you’re asking.

I’ve been surprised at enjoying something more than I expected to and that applies to quite a few things so far in my life like quite a few foods , sports but as I say I’m on open minded guy generally and will likely always try but if I don’t think I’m gonna enjoy then I just won’t do it.

Working out with a trainer. I also liked archery when I was in high school but that was a long time ago. Oh, and ATV riding on logging roads in West Virginia. If you ride a sit-on-top at any speed it's a workout, probably a lot like riding a horse. We did 50 miles and my quads were done.

I took a geology course in college and wound up loving it. I even took a follow up course that included a field trip. Every sport or activity I ever tried, I expected to enjoy and wasn't surprised.
