Sex is definitely one aspect. If they give some good head with some intense eye contact, AND they swallow or let you finish on their face? They're pretty much in your memory for good. At least that's how it is for me.
Then there's how they make you feel. The shared views, interests, laughing maniacally at the same stuff and giving each other knowing looks, the times they came to chill with your family, just laying with you and sharing all the deep thoughts...
Those moments don't just go away. They're memories that will stay with you for a lifetime. Unless they cheat on you or something. Then you actively and subconsciously try to rid yourself of any memory you have of them.

but after that, things they were better at than anyone else, someone who is super nice, someone who you had something strange in common with you both watched Transformers as a kid, you both play guitar, someone that walked into your life when you really needed her, and whether or not you stayed with her, she helped you through that. Someone more "unforgettable", I don't think it has something to do with her, I feel like some love stories are more impactful because... the universe this story was engulfed me more deeply due to... I don't know? Something to do with how I perceived this story and how I remember it?
The good times we shared. All of the lasting memories of how we we always laughing together.
The simple things like going for an early morning walk around the big block we lived in and holding hands while we were walking.
The way he made me feel important and special to him.
How he was always showing me ways that he loved me.
How he was always in a good mood and was happy and fun to be around.
How they made you feel in the best times is the way I find someone unforgettable.
To me it's how they treat people. I'll remember their kindness compassion and love or their disrespect and rudeness but just to me but to others
