What is the Air Force like…?

I’m thinking about joining and I would like some advice.

Don't have a clue! I never went but, why would you wanna do something like that?
Dad and his brothers were in the AF as was my brother. I guess it all depends on what you wanna do in it. My brother fixed radios so, it sounded like he had a blast!! They got him started smoking weed, collecting records, eating extremely spicy food, etc.. Uncle Howard made it to Lt. Col.. There's a display about him at Soldiers & Sailors Hall. I know Wally was a flier, too but, no idea of his rank. I'm pretty sure dad never got higher than corporal.

Out of all the Military branches the Air Force gets treated the best. The housing is much better than the Army or Marines or Navy. And the food is much better also. I enjoyed my time is the army but after seeing how my Brother lived in the Airforce I wished I had joined that.

One bit of advice if you do join. Make sure you pick a job that you can do as a civilian. A job that has a similar job once you get out.

Mmm… So I just separated from the AF last year.

I guess it depends what you want to do?

We’re the best branch and I do love the AF, but there are ups and downs. It’s not for everyone.

What was the toughest part?

Mmm… Kinda hard to answer. For me it’s like anything else, it’s the people around you and your leadership that can make or break your experience. My feelings are a bit skewed because they made my transition out complete hell lol.
My experience is a bit different as well since I was OCONUS my whole career. A lot of people just missed their families, had divorces, and had their S. O’s cheat on them. Quite a few suicides, attempted suicides, suicidal ideation for people coming in with prior problems, having adjustment issues, depression, anxiety, bullying, shit leadership, stuff like that.
I did fine though and would join all over again. Those people are literally my family and I love them so much. Aside from separating, hardest part is leaving the people and family you get attached to.

I didn’t have anxiety until I joined 😅
As long as you don’t have any serious mental health issues or concerns you could do great.!
People cry and shit all the time, but for a lot of us the good times definitely over takes the bad. We’re better than the army when it comes to quality of life for sure 💁‍♀️
My first year was shit, 2,3, and 4 were absolutely amazing. & My last year was shit lol.
