Which languages should I choose between Spanish, Italian or German if I have no urgent reason to do so?

Since my family is originally Portuguese and I speak almost native Portuguese, it’s not so hard for me to understand Spanish or Italian. I started learning Spanish four years ago and I enjoyed it so much, but I switched to learning German, because it’s such a hard language which doesn’t come naturally to me. I like that it’s challenging and I have to put effort into learning it, but I don’t like it at all. I can’t ever see myself speaking it well because I don’t have a chance to practice it. I have no intention of moving to Germany, so should I resume to learn Spanish or start learning Italian, which I also find enjoyable.

If I was given the choice, then Spanish would definitely be the language of choice for me simply because the fact that it is so close to your native language and that you most likely going to be finding much more people speaking Spanish worldwide than German.

Except for Germany, Austria and parts of Switzerland, German is not really very widely spread while Spanish is the 2nd. most spoken language in the world behind Mandarin and ahead of English. German only comes in 19th. place of the most spoken languages while Italian ranks 23rd.

I would go for Spanish since it is so much easier to learn for you.

Spanish and Italian are very similar to Portuguese, so if you're looking for something different then do the German. If you'd like something similar to Portuguese, pick either Spanish or Italian.

Maybe not the most helpful, but pick the language you enjoy learning so it doesn't feel like a chore. German is quite hard, having learned it for 2 years and I'm still on A2.2 haha
