This is the second consecutive year that Harvard was found to be the worst college or university for free speech. Its climate of free speech was deemed to be "abysmal."

Harvard University is the nation’s worst higher education institution when it comes to valuing and promoting free speech, at least according to a recently released report that draws on responses from more than 58,000 students across 251 colleges and universities.

Harvard has consistently received poor marks in the annual College Free Speech Rankings from the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) and College Pulse. It ranked dead last in both the 2023 and 2024 findings.

I think online college is better for the majority of degrees so people don't have to deal with as much liberal bias and nonsense lies by professors trying to push an agenda. Plus, most places don't care where someone got their degree, they just want them to have the piece of paper saying that they spent enough time and money to be allowed to do a certain job. I say "allowed," because it is possible to learn everything necessary for many jobs without ever going to college, but without the official piece of paper saying they finished a degree, they can't get certain jobs, regardless of real qualifications.

20 years ago would have said yes but today I would not want to go there. I do not think much of the so called education. It is more like indoctrination.

There are plenty of colleges that give the kids a rigorous education without brainwashing them. I used to work at one of them.

Free speech has lost it's original meaning. It's no longer about openly and debating issues but now rather more about spreading hate and misinformation. Once you allow that in an organisation it becomes an unwelcoming place for minorities and ruin a places reputation.

naw. already got a degree from a german uni. one of my close friends has first hand experience as an exchange student at MIT as an engineer and he was shocked how unqualified even to doctorates there were and how unorganized shit was. i guess US elite unis compare to german mid level unis in terms of competence and quality of education.

I was qualified for Harvard, but I chose MIT because they had a better curriculum for what I was working towards. I never did actually apply to Harvard, but after doing some checking, I know at least 2 people with lower GPA and less qualifications than I had who both graduated from Harvard, one from Law school.

Most definitely, I would. I can speak freely wherever and whenever subject to legal limitations. But the benefits of a Harvard University education far outweigh any of the inconvenience.

Besides, the Harvard Library has a copy of the 1912 book that documents my family's history back into the 1600s or earlier. My mom lost our copy of "the family book" and Harvard is the only place I know of that has it.
