Sorry to hear that man, tough spot financially.
Stuff is expensive...

Where will I get them? I did that for a while as a kid. It's a LOT of work for next to no pay.
Between 7 and 10 cents per pound and it takes you a couple weeks to collect enough of it to even make it worth the trip to turn them in.
The nearest stores are about 3 miles from here and, other than walking, I have no way to get there and back.
Everyone up here does their own yard work.
Thanks!! Had my god damned family just left me the fuck alone 5 years ago, I wouldn't have had to deal with any of this shit! I WOULD'VE had at least SOME income and had a MUCH greater chance of getting some kind of job!! And, had my stupid aunt not pissed away all her money on scammers, I'd be a multi-millionaire, by now!!
I know! (Thanks to that asshole, Joey!!) But $1500 for a part I can put into a shoebox? And then, they're probably gonna charge me another $500 just for the work! - 6 mo
my state has good return policy $.10 per can... adds up fast, I see people unloading trucks. If can bike around and pickup, it's posible. for a pound, not worth it.
Delivery? if you don't drive... limiting.
work at grocery or any store... walk, bus, bike
online customer service is best at home job
- 6 mo
not sure what to say about family. it's there responsiblity to get you to being responsible, but they don't owe you much beyond that. it's good if they do and some do if the yare good sound people... to support the kids to become stable adults. Others have to work their way through the challenges to be successful and start from the bottom.
- 6 mo
Correct, I don't drive.
Did that at least 3 times. The closest ones here are at least 3 miles away and no buses to get me there. If the trip was all flat, I wouldn't much mind walking but, I'm on this high, steep hill which I don't want to have to hump any more often than I have to. Especially in the winter!
What does it involve and how would I get into it? - 6 mo
what are you referring to by "it"? customer service... you look at jobs online, have a computer... get training and answer questions when people call. I heard Verizon was hiring for such jobs, companies do at various times. you could try a temp agency and ask about options.
you sound stranded and limited. I know people that walk miles to do what they have to. you may have reality I don't understand.

Working in a store. 2 record stores on a VERY limited basis', a 7-11 on a major college campus, a food co+op stocking shelves once a week on a voluntary basis, a major grocery store stocking shelves every night from 11 to 7 a. m., a make-up store in the back room, a huge department store, a high-end toy store, a used book/record store (for 5 days out of 6 weeks)
- 6 mo
Yes, I check at least once a week for jobs online.
Most of the jobs I've had were via temp agencies and a few of them hired me away from the agency.
Make that 3 record stores on a VERY limited basis! As in, 2 days! The 3rd store had me in for 5 hours every other Sunday for a few months.
I know, my grandfather used to walk about 5 miles to get to work every day.
When I was in the band, quite often, after a 4-hour gig playing drums, I'd walk home at 3:00 a. m. about 8 to 10 miles. - 6 mo

Consider online freelance work, where you can leverage your skills quickly. Writing, graphic design, or programming often pay well and can be done from home. Platforms like Upwork or Fiverr connect you to short-term gigs. Tutoring is another option if you have a strong understanding of certain subjects. Additionally, virtual assistant roles offer flexibility and can be well-paying. Focus on your skills, market them, and take on projects that fit your expertise. Working efficiently in high-demand, short-term roles can help you earn that money quickly.

I already have lots of them it's just that there's either no one that wants to make use of them or I can't get to the places where they DO want them.
There's also: I know I can do certain things but, of course, they want it done on this modern gear whereas, I know how on older gear that gets the same results. In the meantime, all I'd need is a quick instruction on HOW to use the new gear but, nobody wants to take the time! I'm a quick study! It doesn't take me long to learn or just figure it out on my own.
It only took me 5 days to learn how to solve Rubik's Cube.
In college, I took a class in electronic music. After a few weeks, I could've taught the teacher! He started us out recording in mono, I was already recording in stereo. By the time the others were just getting into stereo, I'd already been recording in quad!
My parents got me a drum tutor when I was in 4th grade. After a few weeks, he told them, they're wasting their money hiring him because I'm already too far advanced for what he's trying to teach me.
At the print shop where I worked for 13 years, they'd teach me how they want certain things done. I'd start out doing it their way and quickly find my own way of doing it that was better and faster than what they taught me.
I'm NOT just another pretty face! - 6 mo
@FunkyMonkee I get that. You need to figure out a plan for your future.

let's put it this way: I've been collecting records since I was 2, I have over 62,000, now, I've ALWAYS wanted to get a job in a record store or radio station but, as often as I've tried, NONE will hire me!! They only want people that DON'T know what they're talking about and couldn't care LESS about losing the job!!
Back in the `80's, I took a test to discern what kind oof job would suit me best. The results: working in a flower shop!! I don't know the first thing about flowers!!
Most of the jobs I've ever had, I had NO idea how to do them until they hired me and showed me what to do!
7 years ago, I went to the AARP's to see about getting a job in my field! They SAID they'd be able to do that for me!! The job they saddled me with was being a fucking janitor at the local Red Cross office!! JUST what I've ALWAYS wanted to do!!
What I've got going for me is that, at nearly every job I've ever had, I get praises for doing my job way better than expected!!
At last count, I've had at least 64 jobs!! Not a full timer in the bunch!! - 6 mo
Jobs in the media are usually reserved for politicians kids and other insiders. I started out a Communication major. I went to one of the best colleges in that field. I wanted to be the next Ted Baxter. Years later I did some research and not a single one of my classmates got a job in media.
I was in sales for many years. I did not like it but I had a family to support. I did not get into IT until I was 40. I had to start all over again. It was tough but I had a good career. It is not a fun job like being on the radio is but it paid well and was in demand. This is why I chose it for acateer - 6 mo
Who's Ted Baxter? You mean from, Mary Tyler Moore?
There are sites online that pay you to review games or take surveys. You can make a couple hundred dollars a week doing it in your spare time.

Fortunately we don't feel that way here. In fact Joe Biden is not just well liked here, we just honored him with the highest order of Germany, as only second US-president ever.
