Apart from UK, which European country speaks the best English?

Republic of Ireland. ( It's not UK like Scotland, Wales Northern Ireland). Some Americans still do but fewer and fewer based on what I've read here. Australia. If you are traveling. a lot of places understand some English but its best to learn simple terms for often used phrases). There are plentyof places where the residents speak a language other than their native one well but it's not English. If you travel to Turkey, many more Turkish people speak German than English. Most of Africa ( Maghreb and Western Africa) the most common second languages French. Places I had the most difficulty were Greece (not standard alphabet and not to many speak a second language.). If you are traveling to almost any country in Balkans, Russia or -Stans, you will see the Cyrillic alphabet. It's really tough when you don't understand alphabet

In general its a tossup between the Dutch and the Scandinavians. All of who, jokingly, are stated to speak better English than the English.

but outside of UK I would say the northern Europe and Germany
