Why do flat earthers laugh react when I explain to them how something works?

Okay, I follow a flat earth discussion page on Facebook. I know I'm a loser for debating with flat earthers, but they post the dumbest shit. Some guy made a post asking how the sun burns when there is no oxygen in space. He also asked why space is dark in between planets. I explained that the sun doesn't need oxygen to burn because it's powered by nuclear fusion, so it doesn't require oxygen to burn. Then I explained that space is dark between plantes, because there is nothing for the suns light to reflect off of. He just gave me a laugh react, and nothing else. Just a little bit of research would have answered his questions.

Most people when convinced they are right ridicule the other side.

Might have gone over better if you agreed that things in space like the sun and stars indeed do not burn. Then cue your explanation and add in how it is different from a chemical reaction.

I think flat earthers are somewhat immune to science and facts though. Not the only group like that.

cause much like christians or muslims they're not interested in the truth. they're interested in keeping their conviction not through the facts but against the facts. that's the nature of delusion.

think about it like this: it is impossible to "reason" someone out of a position that they never used "reason" to get into.
