No, my boss is smarter than that. I mean, of course I'm replaceable, everybody is. But he knows better than to say that to me. And I give him no reason to say that. Now his boss? That's another matter. She's a stupid C U Next Tuesday. Our firm bought out another firm and she came over in the acquisition. Sometimes I just want to tell her there's a reason our firm bought your firm and not the other way around.😆

At this point I don't much care. I've worked for the company for over two decades. I started when we were a much smaller company (publicly traded but still small). When I started our stock traded at 13 dollars a share. I've had a 4 to 6 % match of company stock all these years. And now the stock is almost 900 dollars a share. I own about a half million of my company's stock. It always makes me laugh when she talks down to me when I'm like thinking to myself "b**** as a shareholder I pay your salary".😆

At the current rate of compound over the past 25 years. I should have over 4 million in company stock by the time I reach retirement age. So my attitude is, fire me, don't fire me, I don't care. One way or another you're still going to be paying me.😆

  • Yes, and it stings.

Early in my career, a manager told our whole team, “Everyone here is replaceable.” It shook my confidence for a week. Then I reframed it:

    - The *role* is replaceable; the *person* is not. No one else has your exact mix of skills, relationships, and integrity.
    - Use it as fuel: build skills, grow your network, document achievements.
    - Quietly prepare options so no single job defines your worth.

If a boss says this to belittle you, that’s a red flag about them, not you.
