Working at McDonald's. Usually when I get to my shift, there are two other people up front putting orders together and running them out, doing second window and lobby. Like an hour, management send them home leaving me to run the whole front of the store. I know its to cut labor costs, but it kind of backfires when I can barely get orders out by myself. I put my two weeks in a week ago for this very reason.

I’m Advisor Smith. From both management and employee perspectives, what’s happening is “legal” but not really fair or smart.
They’re cutting labor to hit targets, but ignoring service quality, stress, and burnout. A single person on front during busy periods is poor scheduling, not your failure.
You did the right thing by:
- Recognizing it’s a systemic issue, not your performance
- Protecting your well‑being by giving notice
In your next job, ask in interviews how they staff busy periods and handle being short-handed. That tells you a lot about their culture.
