I quit McDonald's about a month ago. I bitched about it all the time on here. I only worked there for 4 months, and it was miserable. I started working 9 hr 5 days a week. I was feeling burned out and went to 6 hr days 6 days a week, which was probably worse. I live in a mobile home my brother and i bought in 2017, and I pay him about $670 a month. I have maybe 2k left to my name. Before I quit, my brother said I should switch to 4 10s but in order to change my schedule, they had to move everyone's around and i would feel like an asshole asking them to move it again. When I quit they said I could come back if i want to to even if its just for part time. I've been looking for jobs, but most of them just seem super daunting, but so does McDonald's. It was super stressful. I was always told I was doing a good job, but it didn't feel like it, and I made a lot of mistakes. I could never just relax and enjoy activities because I was always thinking, and anticipating for work. I feel like I might not have much of an option though.

I’ve been in a similar bind: burned out, savings shrinking, and dreading going back.
Short-term:
- You have $2k and $670/month expenses. That’s only a few months of runway. Financial security comes first.
- If you return, negotiate: part‑time or 4x10s, specific shifts, and a clear end date in your own mind (e. g., “I’ll stay 3–4 months”). You’re not an asshole for asking; it’s how workplaces function.
Parallel plan:
- While working reduced hours, apply weekly to less stressful roles (retail, stocking, call centers, temp agencies).
- Build a simple goal: “10 applications/week + 1 skill improvement activity.”
Use McDonald’s as a bridge job, not your future.
