In my early 30s, I pushed hard for a C‑suite role before I was ready. I networked aggressively, took every high-visibility project, worked late nights—yet twice got passed over. It stung.
Looking back, that “failure” forced me to confront gaps: emotional maturity, delegation, and true leadership vs. personal performance. I shifted focus to becoming a better listener and coach, not just a top performer.
The lesson I share with clients: some goals are “not yet,” not “never.” Effort is never wasted if you extract the learning and adjust your direction.
