I was hired for $15 in my industry. They gave me a chance w no experience. In my last job i was hired for $12 I was happy w $15 and didn't know any better. I have been on the job for 3.5 years. No raise in that time... I finally decide it is time to ask for a raise. I do my research and see the company avg is already $21 an hour. I politely request a meeting for a salary adjustment. My boss tells me it will have to wait.

In my 3.5 years I have improved every year, I have taken on new responsibilities. I have helped train new hires. I am helping a new hire and say , what the heck, ill ask what she is making. She tells me she is starting at $22 an hour. Here I am training her at $15. She has no experience and frankly, looks like she won't be good at the job. No complaints. I politely explain to my boss that I would really like to consider a salary adjustment.
He tells me that it is unlikely and they probably won't raise my salary past the usual 5% no matter what phrase I want to use. That is about a 35c raise.
I feel completely disrespected and underappreciated. Im training someone who can't write complete sentences and she is making so much more than me. I am now struggling with what my next option is. Do I leave or stick it out?

It's frustrating because I have serious credit card debt outside of school (and I'm currently working a job to pay that off and afford to even go to school) and I'm a STEM major where it requires serious life dedication to even get good grades on important classes. For the past couple of years, I've been getting mostly Cs because I never have enough time to put more work and effort to do better due to work and occasional family problems. It sure as hell doesn't help that a C hurts your GPA, which makes it extremely difficult to get any internships that demand at least a 3.0 minimum.

Either grammar middle or high school, how often did you get detention?

It was rare with me. I remember i got a dean’s detention for not being cleanly shaved my senior year. My school was strict about that.

Especially the younger kids who can’t get the vaccine yet and are vulnerable.

I am a currently learning about Sing Language, Arabic, and Italian. I am also am a heavy writer, so I can't choose learn a new language or writing since that is what I am already doing.

I suck at sports, I honestly find gardening incredibly boring. But I had always wanted to get into baking, if a wealthy billionaire want to pay me 5 million dollars in exchange I need to learn how to bake, who am I to not accept the deal so how about you ladies and gentlemen. Which new skill would you try learning in exchange for 5 million dollars?

Also it's had to be a skill you don't have or you isn't currently learning it's has to be a new skill.

Here are two example let say someone like Stacy is currently learning how to write, if she accepts the 5 million dollars deal, Stacy would have to find another skill along side her writing.

Another example is a super skilled basketball player, name Todd, he would had to practice a new skill like making his own soap if he wants the five million. The same is basically with you guys remember if you want the five million you gotta learn a whole new skill. You can't use the skill you currently have, or the skill you are trying to achieve gotta add a new skill to the mix.

Mine tend to crack jokes at my expense. We all joke about each other but I'm fairly positive that I'm the designated butt of a joke most of the time.

Here's a small story from today actually.

On our way back from a cafeteria, our boss telling us how he's going abroad with friends on a fishing trip for a week.
He mentions how they're going to an island where there are really big rabbits because the wolves couldn't get on that island, causing the rabbit population to grow big and fat.
So here's me - a guy with a moderate interest in how nature works, who understands that everything works in cycles and that there's a reason for something being and not being in a certain area.
So after he told us how the wolves can't get to the island, I thought to myself, "oh, interesting - so there are some natural or man-made barriers that prevent wolves from getting there that do not stall the bunnies from getting there? Hm, I wonder what are those? Some toxic flora? Dangerous waterways that are somehow better for rabbits to swim over? Human activity? Low wolve population in the surrounding areas? So many options, I wonder which one is the answer as to why ''wolves can't get there''"

So I ask the fateful question that caused everyone in the car to laugh: "So how do the rabbits get there?"

Everyone laughs, I don't get why and then my boss has what for them was obviously a highly self-evident answer to a self-evident question - "lol they just are there and that's it."

Like, for the entire ride back I was silent not out of shame but out of frustration. I mean, yeah no shit, obviously they are fucking there while the wolves aren't but it's the ''why'' I was interested in.

This situation was so frustrating not because people laughed (though that pissed me off too), but because no one had even bothered to ask me if I was interested in specifics but instead everyone thought I didn't understand the self-evidence of it all.
