I enjoy mandolin music written by Vivaldi in the Baroque era.
Bach created some great harpsichord pieces.

This is probably my favorite off of the new CHVRCHES album, aside from the Robert Smith feature... not like an "all-time favorite" by any means, but man, it's brand new and a great song nonetheless.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/ixhWUXZJsDwI like a lot of "new-wavey" stuff... alternative-based genres. Whether that amalgamates into an electronic or synth-pop sound... something guitar-based, or even like progressive forms of metal, or electronic music, that's kinda what I like. Or even something like Gorillaz, where it's basically genre-less. Like how do you even define Gorillaz lol? It's electronic, it's rap, it's like alternative rock and pop, it's a lot of things. I like music like that... it's like an eclectic mix of styles, something that's driving music into new territories... you can't put it in a box.
Even with CHVRCHES... sure it's very 80's synth-pop, but they've at least got a distinctive sound and Lauren's voice is just unmistakable... immaculate. The production is great, has a lot of modern elements, and I know it's indisputably CHVRCHES when I hear it... I'm not going to mistake it for any other band, old or new. They just aren't going to have that "swirling" vibrant, synthetic sound that only CHVRCHES can do best.10 Reply - +1 y
I have a lot of favorite genres but what I enjoy the most is old school RnB, Ballad and old J Pop style music with sometimes a little jazzy element. Also sometimes Japanese EDM music. Here are some of what i think are the best.

The best song? That's a tough choice, there are so many good ones. I guess 'Back On The Chain Gang.' It's classic rock, has a catchy timeless tune, and it's Chrissie Hynde's tribute to two of her band members who were friends and died from drug overdoses.

I'm choosing Shining Desert by John Frusciante. But I've had this cover by Awaiting Jean Nealy in my head all week.
