This is the cover of 'Book 1 : Bully' from my novel series 'On my face'. My motive is to keep the cover simple but not boring. I made it from 'Canva' and I'm new there so I just did how much I could. Do you think it will attract readers? How can I make it more attractive? This is one of my first tries to make a book cover so don't mind it if it looks unappealing. by the way 'Diamond Apple' is my pen name not Apulu. And I am thinking to keep this hoodie girl background in every book of this series. I will say the story of this book in brief so it will be easier for you to know whether this match with the cover.
So the main Character name is Ashtashia Devis. She is in grade school (this books starts from when she is of 1 class and ends when she leaves the school in the end of 3 class). Ashtashia is from a Wealthy family but she didn't said this in school. She was bullied mentally a lot due to her silent personality and because the bullies were jealous as she gets higher grades. She couldn't do anything about this because the teachers in this school paid no attention to the condition of the students. She didn't said this to her parents because she doesn't wants them to worry about her. Then a whole lot of drama happens. In end her sister transfers to other school as her sister also didn't liked the school so she also transfers to that school fortunately and the story ends.
The brief of the whole series is that Ashtashia runs away from her home to achieve her dreams as pop star. You can say a runaway star story. And basically this is a very dark and depressive story with few funny stuff also.
I love the bottom but I think it's a bit bare at the top. Since we can top-to-bottom, if you're seeking improvements (although I think this is still a very solid book cover), try to spruce up the top. You can even do it with something simple like a border around the "On My Face" side which contrasts with the bottom.
i think it'd be better if the quote was on the back of the book instead of on the cover, and maybe make "on my face" font a bit larger and slightly lower. but not bad at all!
Actually it's an E-book so only front part will be visible. Otherwise if by chance it becomes paperback then I will add the quote in back. Yeah I will modify the Title. Thanks!
hmm you could probably put the quote in the first page of the book as well as a little bit about the author (yourself) before the story starts. but totally up to you though!! but regardless, looks great.
The color tones are good, if there is any bright spot in the book/series you might want a contrasting bright line in it. Otherwise this book may get lost on the shelves of all the competing titles. but overall the blacks, blues, greys, and whites may well reflect the book given the dark theme as you described.
Yes I thought of writing at 12 years but actually started writing it from this year. This story is inspired by my life and also have many things added.
The title 'On my face' have a pretty deep meaning. It means that on my face you will see a bright smile but you don't know what is inside. What you see on my face is completely different from how blank it is inside.
Yeah I just added a random sticker in Canva lol. It means that the game of life is going on, it isn't the end. I will put 'Game over' in the last book of this series.
I'm working on it currently. I have written 10 chapters. I will publish it in wattpad when it is completed. Actually this is the better version. The original one is a bit lame and cringe so I am re-writing it. I had some time to kill so I made the cover.
