Rome is at least one of them. It's also only two seasons so it doesn't require a huge investment:

I think it has much of the same appeal as Game of Thrones in its better half without being quite as convoluted. Titus and Lucius also make the most amusing contrast of characters: a Stoic vs. a wild man:

The German Netflix original, Dark.
As it went along I was more and more impressed with how tightly written it was. There was an odd moment in the first episode that I almost thought was a mistake. Then, toward the end of SEASON TWO something was revealed that made it make sense. I realized that the entire series was planned out from the start.

Ozark is pretty good. I haven't seen it all but I hear its good. As for animation you should watch Arcane, its great and will make you cry and cheer. Both are on netflix

I really cannot think of one show that is really outstanding these days. The doctor shows are all the same and the comedies are all about sex. There hasn't been anything original in many years.
