I always liked Velma more than Daphne myself. I believe that if that's how they want to perceive her character, then I'm all for it. But, the main question should be... Where are Shaggy and Scooby-Doo in all of this?

Somewhere along the line, the whole "free to be you and me" thing became unfashionable, and now characters are required to fit in neat little boxes. Women with tomboyish interests can't just be women with tomboyish interests; they have to be gay (or trans. Or both, however that would work). Men who have a close, intimate relationship with one another can't just be close friends, they have to be dating. Stereotypes used to be seen as overly restrictive, and that was bad; now NOT conforming to them is seen as "silencing" or even "violence" and THAT is bad, for some reason.
Sexuality was never a part of the Scooby-Doo franchise; if that doesn't change, I'll have nothing to complain about here. If they have her say "Yeah, I'm into women; here's my girlfriend" and leave it at that, I'll have on problem. But that's not what the smart money says...
Mindy Kaling is gonna be Velma?
That might be cool.
She is pretty good. She can be a good voice actress too. She did really well in "Inside Out".
I'm definitely no SJW, but I think it's great that lesbians and other members of the LGBTQ community (to which I belong, being bisexual and having been in relationships with other women) are being represented more and more fairly. That, and Velma always struck me as a bit of a dyke anyways.
True, she has given me those vibes before. Now I know why Fred, Daphne, and Velma always went separate ways to leave Scooby and Shaggy on their own. 😂😂
Not surprised. After all it has to represent the world we live in today...
Why?
No seriously, why?

Didn’t she go a bit for Daphne in one of the movies…?
Won't affect the series at all. As her romantic love life never was mentioned or played a role as far as i remember.
So i don't care at all.
Except it will affect the series and show. It wasn’t a topic of interest for her character before. Now it is. The mere fact that they say she’s lesbian implies a lesbian relationship or attraction. This has to be depicted in the show, else why announce to everyone she is a lesbian in anticipation of the show?
I mean I don’t especially care. I don’t watch crap like this. In fact I barely watch anything from this century. But this is all pretty intentional and overt messaging to try to gin up interest for the show by playing up a LGBT angle.
Chase them rainbow dollars! 🙄
I don’t know why we have to make everyone gay or bi.
I think hollywood needs to create new characters instead of constantly changing existing well known charaters
Agreed.
She can't be lesbian, because she loved Johnny Bravo in the crossover.
But showrunners don't care about continuity.
It’s all about ticking boxes nowadays but I’m the process changing things that don’t need to be changed
The series will be shit
Also Velma loves Fred !!!
Not surprised it's marketing to the community of those who are gay or lesbian.
It doesn't bother me
More woke garbage I will not be watching
Does this matter at all? It's fiction.
disgraceful
