I am an upcoming artist with a lot of talen but not a lot of recognition. But there is this radio show in Chicago ( I live in Detroit) who wants to get me on their show because they really like my song. My ex manager is still promoting it because he looks at me as cash in his eyes but I didn’t want him to be my manager because he tries to change me and he’s older ( late 50s) so we don’t agree with the same things. Should I go to Chicago and charge these people for my time or not charge them because I need the publicity. They’re radio show is not really that popular and I can tell we both would be doing each other a favor. Also I heard that they’ve been playing my song almost everyday.

Go on your dime. Its exposure and a feather in your cap.
Let me tell you a story, years ago I was the house sound guy for a tiny little bar. We had a budy ask us to host this unknown band. Apparently they were popular in Texas but I'd never heard of them. They were doing their first Westcoast tour and as our booking manager was from Texas he got a call. So we hosted them for 2 nights. Nice guys but really were in a very small venue. We had maybe 20 people show up for both shows.
That tour is what put Blue October on the map. I saw them a few years later to a packed venue.
You never know whats going to put you on top.
