Race swapping in movies and TV shows yay or nay?

I’m sorry I don’t care if I ruffle some feathers but race swapping needs to stop. And black people I don't know why ya are supporting that shit it’s weird. Arielle for example the new live action one, why? Why is she black? It makes no sense people like to say the race doesn’t matter it’s about the acting of the actors. Bruh yes it does matter it matters a lot or you wouldn’t be race swapping in the first place. I don’t want a black character to be turned white so why would I want a white character to be black like wtf? At that point just make a whole new character cause if I got an Asian woman who is from Japan then I turn that character black then you’re changing the whole character point Anyway. Like I don’t want a black Mulan bro that wouldn’t even make sense. It needs to stop.

Nay. Absolutely nope. Especially not when the defenders are hypocrites who would scream like no tomorrow if they turned a black character white.

You will notice that these people also notice that they not only need to see black people in every movie or tv show otherwise said tv show or movie is racist in their opinion, and these black characters can't have flaws unless the writer is black, otherwise the writer would be racist in these peoples opinions.

Oh, and the black characters can't be described in ways these people don't like, or described with words they don't like. Notice that none of the movie adaptions have the Sleeping beauty chapter that is censored out of more recent prints of the book?

Yeah, I can't say I'm fond of it. I just don't get why we can't start making movies or popularizing actual, in this case, African folk tales. As if there isn't a whole treasure trove to pick from and plenty of people who would be interested. We have plenty from Asia.

All reasonable people can agree that it sucks that old movies used to race-swap in favor of white people. But why doesn't it suck that they're doing it now, just the opposite? Especially as a lot of it is so unnecessary. One of my favorite book series was recently made into a movie, and the books were already the most diverse in every single way things I have ever read, but they cast a black actress as one of the main characters who is white, and for the main villain, who was also explicitly white. If there had been no POC in the books, I could see this rationalized. But almost literally every other character was POC. So it just felt forced and contrived.

Exactly my point same thing happened with one of my favorite video game series the last of us one of the main characters a little white southern girl was sapwood out of a curly haired black girl who didn’t even have a southern accent with a white dad and uncle it’s like bruh whyyyy? It’s such an unnecessary change especially cause it doesn’t make any sense if you’re gonna change something so major the. Change the whole story at that point or make a new one

There’s so much to pull from black culture that can be done well and made into amazing media and entertainment but so much of the black community now is pushing for trace swapping like it’s a good thing like no it just gives them an excuse to not put out new and original black stories and characters who have substance why would ya be content with that?

If there is 0 impact or effect on the movie cast the best actor based on talent instead of obsessing on which race someone should be.

If halle bailey was the person they felt to play ariel, who cares if she is black. She should be allowed to play a role.

They said she nailed a song so amazing that people who cast for ariel was like "wow" we found our ariel. But because she black and the previous versions is white she is disregarded as the only reason she got the role is because she is black. What a slap to halley bailey.

Do you know how many dang roles Denzel Washington got that were originally written for white males, but he went and completely shocked them and they were like WOW he needs the role.

Americans are to obessed with race and claiming everything is based off of pissing people off.

I disagree a persons race in the original media effects it dramatically why would you get a white or black person to play an Asian role then? That’s a disservice the people of that race is it not? Wouldn’t you be upset if a live action version of princess and the frog as done and the lead was changed to be white?

And let’s be honest if the media is for kids or not it makes no difference sponge bob is technically for kids but all ages can watch that show week at least originally saying something is for kids is a cop out answer or argument. There’s ole Ty of kids shows or media out there with adult themes that take it past that. Even the original story of Arielle yeah the Disney version is technically for kids but even that story has some dark themes by today’s standards

If it was always such a problem that white people where taking acting roles from black actors especially roles that were meant to be original black characters why is it any different the reverse way we are just doing the same thing they’d be doing.

Princess and the frog was a slap in our face bruh.
Every previous princess story was actual princesses.
What we get the poor little black girl who wants to open up a benet specialized restaurant and she so poor her poppa died working to death.
Full of voodoo sterotypes and what not.

Ariel's race is not once mentioned or impacted in the story.
But if a role that makes no sense to have a white guy or black guy play a story that constantly makes reference to him being Asian. Has impact.
But a merimaid that literally you could through any race and it changes the story absolutely not. Why does it matter?
Because of an obsession to race. That's why.
If everyone would stop making everything about race we stop beefing so much.
And again.
Disney wrote the sequel put they money into it. If they want to make a character that never once had anything to do with race black, white, purple or yellow. It is there right.
You can either watch it, or you can not.
Me i will be proudly watching it with my little cousin who is over the top to see it.
Why?
Because she wants me to watch it with her.
There is nothing deeper to this.
She was amazing and they wanted her for it and every race obsessed person screams in outrage over it.

And your comparison makes no sense.
We weren't allowed to play practically any roles.
Having roles here and there that 1 or 2 actors end up being non white is not the same as absolutely not allowing someone of a race to play.
I mean you don't even see how they got you.
They got in your head that we are stealing roles because we black. Like we ain't good enough to get a roll from a white person, without it being because white people are kissing our butts.
Have some self respect for our race that we can act good enough to win roles that white people can play based off talent and not being given it because they feel sorry for us

Changing the race of a character is gonna have an impact regardless Arielle is Originally a white character so they made her background with that in mind. Her daddy white the underwater kingdom based on white architecture to a degree the man she gets with is white. And my point still stand regardless if you’re gonna change the race if a charcoal why not put the time and effort into making an original character it’s not hard. Changing Arielle to be black literally does nothing for the people of the black community none of the culture is there none of what makes a good black character is black. Princess and the frog had a lot of problems but at least they tried. Now they throwing a black person face in any role and saying we rep minorities and ya just expecting it cause you got a black girl playing a white character. You can’t say that changing someone’s race won’t have an effect it’ll always have an effect like name one black character that if they swapped the race it wound matter. If Disney can make encanto full of Hispanic rep then they can do that for blacks.

Never said that black people could t act we have plenty of talent but why would I wanna shine playing a white person? I’m not white like it or not yeah race is a big thing in the states for all the wrong reasons but we shouldn’t be out here saying we all the same because we fundamentally aren’t god made us all different for a reason. Are cultured skin and hair is different so why shouldn’t we strive to push for more black rep instead of race swapping?

I agree with you, it's like Hollywood is trying so hard to be progressive that they're actually becoming race obsessed when you get to the point where you're race swapping characters. I don't want popular Black characters to be made White either. Hollywood just needs to start writing new roles for minorities. That the correct road towards inclusivity.

I don't think most Hollywood writers have the skill to make something original, so race-swapping and rebooting existing stories is all they've got.

Plus there's investors behind the scenes forcing diversity quotas and such...
