`Do you think of Emily Bett Rickards?

I've been watching that stupid series, Arrow, on Netflix. She's really cute on the show.
It's the first time I heard of her. Aside from that, I know nothing about her.

The persona she creates for the show is adorable, so maybe that's part of why I have taken a liking to her. But I decided that I really like her face.

The moment I first saw her in this question, I silently said to myself "She's Canadian". She's attractive yet I never heard of her either and don't watch that show. So, I looked her up and the first line in Wikipedia is that she's "a Canadian actress".

Well, the reason you haven't heard of her or a lot of other actors or actresses is that she's Canadian. A lot of shows are filmed in Canada to save money. Besides, while this is racist, there's a sort of unwritten rule in Hollywood: When you need White "American" actors and actresses - obviously White people - you go to Canada (or Australia) to get them; they are cheaper and less likely to have any mixed lineage.

Think about all the truly White "American" actors you know of: so many of them are Canadian or Australian - especially the younger ones (under 40).

In the show she had that adorkable thing going. Bernadette from big bang theory is another charcter like that. Think it all started with Josh Whedon's shows, smart attractive girl who's totally smoking hot but dresses non sexually and modestly. The Flash had Danele Panbaker as Katlyn snow. Smallville had chloe played by Allison mack, Buffy had Willow played by Allison Hannigan, Angel had Winnifred played Amy Acker, firefly had Kaly played by Summer Glau. Velma from scooby doo.

They don't always wear glasses but think of Racheal Leigh Cook in she's all that where she was supposed to be the unattractive need girl when really she was totally hot and you couldn't miss that body.
