What do you think about the movie Pocahontas?

Well I believe many are a bit too touchy these days. As long as one didn't sell this to people as being the historically accurate story of Pocahontas (which to my knowledge pretty much the majority of people know it's not accurate even if they don't know the full real life story). I believe they just meant to use the culture and time period as a back drop to tell a fairy tale like they had been doing throughout the Disney Renaissance. Like Fox would do with Anastasia a few years later.
Just a creative outlet to entertain families; years and years later overanalyzing details has caused many to only take note of things on the surface level where they need so much spelled out loud vocal groups miss subtly and nuance because they cling to some beaten to death jokes about Disney flicks that were first given life on Buzzfeed like websites that were proven inaccurate even then but hey I don't want to ramble too much.
All that aside in my personal opinion it wasn't like one of the greatest of the greats but hey it was a nice enjoyable film for what it was I thought. Colors of the Wind is still an incredible tune and the other songs are pretty good as well. Voice work is great, animation and art style is nice and it has a pretty good collection of characters. At least those are my two cents.
I totally makes me want to be a Native with the title of being civilized and whip my slaves. Too bad we sided with the South in order to keep our slaves because now all I can do is complain about how you stole my land... and my slaves.
Is it always that bad when you choose the losing side in a war?
... yeah they don't teach that shit in school... I can already feel the know-nothings wanting to attack me.
How about this... Pocahontas was sexy. Gave me some sexual tendencies. Ummm... yeah, she's banging.

Lolz
@roosterbreast Should I break out the coom jars for this one?
Pocahontas definitely had some sexual appeal and you’re right, those cooms were definitely ready to burst out of her tight little body. I bet she would have loved it if you broke out the coom jars for her. If i think about it, it would be like a pornographic erotic nightmare come true. I mean, seriously, who wouldn’t want to see Pocahontas getting fucked by a giant tentacle monster while she screams out for more? You can almost hear the splooge splattering against the walls as her juices squirt everywhere in pleasure! Ahhhh, I’m so turned on just thinking about it. Let me know if you need any help with that coom jar.
@RoosterBreast I also think she'd be totally down... I mean.. Poke-a-haunt-tess. It's what the monster cock wants.
I think it is overall good due to the fact that Disney got me interested in Pocahontas at a young age through appropriate themes. Had it been historically accurate, that would not have been age appropriate. Because of the Disney version, I was super interested in learning more about the real Pocahontas and other native peoples. I think it also helped cultivate a sense of empathy for our native peoples and nature.
I always found John Smith hot af and the raccoon was adorable but that movie bored the native American in meeeee. I never sat and watched it from beginning to end. Always saw it in parts throughout life and none of the songs were catchy

Yeah, say what you will about Disney's designs, that woman does NOT look like a ten-year-old.
But that one song that consists of angry mobs arming themselves to go destroy one another and shouting about how they're "savages- barely even human!" was a remarkably good prediction of modern politics. You've got to give it that.
It's totally the complete opposite of the real Pocahontas Pocahontas should be in the history books Pocahontas had a bad life for doing good things but I think she's right up there like with Sacagawea , Sarah winnemucca all three of these Indian women should be recognized and not the way Disney portrays Pocahontas it's just totally wrong that girl went through total hell and died by the people that were supposed to help her
It was rather shit, even in it's day it didn't win many awards.
But hey, we were kids, and seeing an animation was always popcorn and soda time!
However, it does show the nefarious nature of America and American industries. Always pushing this "White saviour" complex, even onto kids. It's no wonder few trust the West these days.
Says the bagel muncher.
I don't think it was racist, unlike parts of "Peter Pan" which was from an earlier era. And while the historical inaccuracy was a bit annoying (not that we should expect a lot of it from a Disney cartoon) I don't think the more accurate portrayal of Pocahontas as a 12 year old running around naked would have gone over too well with the Disney audience.
I just hope they don't make an idiotic live-action version as they keep doing to sully their other classic cartoons.
Race is a social construct invented by European colonialists, which has been thoroughly debunked by the discovery of DNA; therefore, racism and anything related to race is also a social construct and not scientifically proven
It's artistically (audio and visual) very good for its time but definitely on the lower end of "classic" Disney.
Nothing changes check it out on Disney plus they really altered it and other movies secretly!
If anything we need more movies showing how things were not this whiny woke internet state we are in now.
It oversimplifies Indigenous/Native culture (which really isn’t one monolithic culture anyway)
It has been so many years since i have seen it. I liked it as a kid. If you look into what really happened with her, you find out how evil we were back then.
It was so disrespectful for Native Americans and Pocahontas and her real people. That's was not a great move from The House Of Mouse to frabercate a real life woman tragedy for fucking money.
I bet when Disney comes out with the live action woke version it will be another home run for the Mouse.
I always liked Pocahontas, the character. I have read the real story as well many years ago.
Never watched it, concept/plot sounded too boring.
The avengers movies were good though.
It's a great fantasy movie for the kids but it's obvious very different from what happened in reality.
i think it's cute just like any other disney movies
I was VERY disappointed!! Never ONCE in the ENTIRE MOVIE did Liz Warren show up!!
I’ve only ever seen it once, I think it’s a great, sweet, innocent movie for it’s time. The modern world however has progressed beyond that and looking back, it doesn't seem to be the most accurate film out there.
It annoys me because one of my childhood friends never shut up about it
Wholly inaccurate. However, since it’s Disney, they had to make it like that.
Inglorious basterds has great reviews and yet is far from the history books. Pocahontas is a Disney children movie people need to chill
Have y’all seen the second one where she had to use white powder makeup to cover up the color of her skin?
I woulda poked a Hontas if she looked like that. She can call me Long John Smith.😆
fun songs, amazing animation buuut not so great story
Replace her with a white chick.
Just to stir shit up.
One of the most boring Disney movies tbh.
I like the movie pocahontas
I remember watching it as a kid I liked it
