I watched all but the last two movies last month and am working on the commentaries, now and they keep referring to these as comedy movies! Except for a handful of VERY mildly funny bits per movie, I can't see how anyone would consider these to be comedies! I heard Patrick Macnee say the same thing about, "The Avengers"! Again, a FEW comedic bits here and there but, how do you consider movies or t. v. shows about killing people to be comedies? I guess newsreels of what Hitler did would be a laugh riot!

The Avengers was sort of a parody of spy movies. It was not really serious. The Bond movies are really not exactly serious either. All his adventures and the women he would encounter were not exactly realistic. If you have ever read any of the Ian Fleming novels they are nothing like the movies. Some of them were more outlandish than others. On Her Majesty's Secret Service was one of the more unrealistic ones.
Well I've seen only Daniel Craig Bond movies and they are of course not Comedies but sure do have funny bits
Exactly! Well, the Brosnan Bonds are almost as rough and tough as the Craigs but that's the commentaries I'm watching now and they still talk about which bits were funny and how much of a comedy it is. Bond's ALWAYS had funny lines to say in the movies! That doesn't make them comedies!
I've never thought about them being comedies.
They keep talking about, did this gag work or how many laughs that one got and, if we did it that way, instead, would it have gotten more laughs.
