It’s hard to say which one has been the worst.. I’ve had so many over the years, so I’ll say my worst top 2 nightmares. I remember when I was 12, I had a nightmare that my dad and my uncle took me on a camping trip, and when night came, they hog tied me in my sleep and then (in the dream) I woke up to them both taking turns pleasuring themselves with my body and face. That dream messed me up for months. Earlier this year, I had a nightmare where my partner & I were having sex in doggy position, and he leaned forward and held my head down to the bed, but he wouldn’t stop pushing my head further into the bed until eventually his hand went through the back of my skull and splattered my brains, killing me. But he enjoyed it, and it made him start thrusting even harder. I was watching myself in third person being taken from behind by my partner while my brains are splattered through the bed. That dreams took me weeks to get out of my head.
I’ve had many nightmares, usually dreams where I get killed in gruesome ways, or I get tortured or mutilated somehow, but I find that it’s the nightmares where I get sexually assaulted or similar by people that I love and trust not to hurt me, those dreams mess me up the most.
I was walking down some far -off country road and on either side their were people being tortured with all sorts of machines. It as very disturbing for me. Generally speaking I brush of my bad dreams as soon as I wake up but this one really stuck in my head for like a week.
Interestingly , I have noticed that when I am under periods of duress I tend to have nightmares i. e ,, torture , being chased by vampires or other monsters, someone showing up to my place to kill me etc. Or sometimes body parts falling off... like the other day I has a nightmare that I was falling apart... first I lost almost all of my teeth and then an eye fell out... very strange.
When I was in college back in the late 90's I fell asleep in my dorm bed and had a nightmare that there was some guy outside the living room window of our dorm ( it was a first floor student apartment with very large windows) staring at me and waving a knife around saying he was going to kill me. In the dream I was just looking at the guy and did not know what the hell to do. The guy looked very creep as he had these very large eyes and strange teeth. Any how... the nightmare ended due to the noise of one of my room mates at the time entering the room. Now hear this... the bed I was sleeping on is such that it faces a dark hallway that then leads to the living room with the large windows. I had the lights off in the room but my roommate turned on the lights in the living room so that means that as he was walking in I did not see his visual definition just a silhouette figure walking in my direction. As you can imagine, this scarred the ever living shit out of me and I jumped out of my bed screaming all sorts of gibberish with my fists up ready to fight. This in turn frightened my room mate. He had to start yelling at me telling me to relax that is was just him.

I was raped when I was 4 and molested a few more times as a kid. Then there was a conflict at my church/school when a teacher was fired for being gay. Protests at the church for weeks. My nightmare was getting chased by groups of gay men like in the zombie apocalypse. I maybe had that nightmare for about a year. Then the presence started to stand at the foot of my bed. I could feel him breathe, a watchful seething hatred for me. He was there for months and then just stopped. He came back twice as an adult, then not since.
The only bad dream I have now is that something bad happens to my kids. I had a bad dream about a year ago. Woke up and called my daughter. She was supposed to be staying at a friends house. It turns out that they snuck out of the house after midnight. I dreamt that they were in a parking lot behind the grocery store, and some men killed her friend and kidnapped her.. I woke up and called her, but she didn’t answer. I looked at the location on her phone and it was in the parking lot. I grabbed my gun and my flashlight and ran out of the house to go find her. Before I got to the end of the road they were pulling in to the house.
She did not tell me until months later that there were some other guys in the parking lot around their age, but they had guns. she said she was getting nervous and didn’t know what to do and then I called and then she knew she just had to get home.
She was for bidden from hanging out with that kid again. She’s since straightened out a bit. Day by day. That’s my biggest fear that something happens to my kids.
@LaFemmeFatale_1 Thank you. It was a LONG time ago and I already went through my dark place (sex addiction as a young adult) and got therapy for it. And I’m trying (regardng my munchkins).
@Guardian45 My ex gave me an ultimatum at the beginning of our marriage to get therapy or she was out. So yes, I got the help that I needed and I stopped my destructive and reckless behavior.
Probably the 1st nightmare I had. I was 3 years old, a huge bear came by in my dream. he put me in his big white bag and took me to dump me in the rubbish bin outside.
I woke up scared, my mom comforted me. I felt so happy it was a dream.
I think my worst was I fell instantly in my dream or slammed into something really quickly and I woke up immediately. Another was my leg started really throbbing and it had to be cut off, and I woke up immediately to find I was sleeping in a terrible position and my leg was actually hurting lol
It was a weird possession-ish dream. I was walking through fog that tasted bad, kind of like rotten meat or metal, when I got ripped out of my body by a fog creature who took it over and then presumably killed my girlfriend—although that part of the dream the visuals cut out, I'm pretty sure that's what happened based on the sounds and feelings. Then it was just nothing for a while, and then I could taste the fog again and woke up cold.

There was a tunnel that ran under the city. It had a catwalk the whole length. It had one offramp that led to the surface. The ramp had no catwalk and was narrow. I was walking up the ramp and a big truck came by and squished me against the wall and turned me into a big red smudge.
When I was young the original Nightmare on Elm Street came out. Watched it and in my dream Freddy tried to kill me. Then also around that age the original V series came out. Lizard people from another planet invaded earth. Dream was our dog at time attacked my mother.
I had a dream that I was going skinny dipping with two girls. They started playing with my penis and I got an erection. Then they started pleasuring me, and at first it felt really good but then they grabbed a knife (from somewhere, I don't remember where) and cut me down there, laughing as they did it.

Being poked in the ribs by a giant spider and what made it scarier was when I woke up I felt something stabbing my ribs but I realized I was sleeping on my earbuds 😅
When I was a teen, I used to have the same dream of falling off a cliff hurtling to the ground, watching my life flash before my eyes, then as I brace for impact, and inch from the ground, I wake up in a cold sweat!
In later years I caught PTSD, and the nightmare changed to the faces of the 34 patients I lost before I retired. In particular, the third patient's face haunted my nightmares, but I never knew his name!
As of late the dream was a big snake was after me and talking to me telling me he was going to bite me. I was hitting him with a stick and he kept coming.
That's it, I woke up before he bit me. It was scary

Dreamed one night (very terrifying) that I was electrocuted, and died. I felt the electrical charge go up my arm and everything... I woke up terrified!!
