It's not a bad movie, but of course the end was rather predictable (the ship sinks). Actually, when I compare it to most of the films churned out by Hollywood today, it was a masterpiece. If that film was made now, the two main characters would be autistically-handicapped, black transgender Muzzies, and the ship would be promoted as some sort of example of superior African technology that only sank because it hit a white iceberg (and the iceberg would be some sort of stupid "metaphor" for colonial oppression and white supremacy or some other such rubbish).

  @Levin You can't be serious. I could understand someone from, say, Somalia or Yemen not being familiar with the story, but you're in the UK, the nation from which the ship departed in 1912.

on set, my friend smoked a cigarette with kate winslet in a stairwell. but that's a serious masterpiece of a movie! it built a story around what happened in an hour and made 3 hours out of it. genius!

It was good once, but not twice. I liked the idea of the old lady reminiscing and telling the story. It had a lot of potential, but the story was too fake and the acting was lousy.
