My net worth is about 85k, all from money I earned myself. I'm a senior in college at the moment - a bit nontraditional, as I took a year between HS and college to work full-time and save up a nest egg. Since then, I've worked part-time. I'm very lucky to have parents that gave me an exceedingly comfortable life. My father is an accountant, but from a working-class family. My paternal grandfather is a tradesman and grandmother a housewife. My mother, however, has a wealthy background. She works in finance. My mother is of immigrant Chinese background and my maternal grandfather is the chairman of a company in China. Not a huge conglomerate or anything, but still very successful, and he is a wealthy man - he owns a mansion ~6k sq ft, Rolls Royce, and a Mercedes. I worked before college to save up money for myself because I didn't want to keep relying on my parents, but my grandfather would absolutely pay off my student debts without hesitation if I asked for help. Not everyone is so lucky.

I don't have any interest in stepping into his shoes for that company, and neither does my mom, but he is an uncharacteristically understanding and caring man. My mother was born during the one-child era of China, and female children were often seen as less desirable. I'm glad my grandfather and grandmother were gentle people, though. Family visits are often more luxurious than I think I deserve, and despite me being half-white and not fluent in Chinese, they treat me with a lot of love. This man would buy me a house if I said I was looking for one.

My fiancee is graduating medical school this year, and I'm looking to get my PhD after my B. S. so I can go into medical research for big pharma somewhere. At the present, I want to get my education done and get my career off the ground so I have something of my own to show for all the support she and my family have given me. Some day, the wealth of my grandparents will pass down to my mother, which will then pass down to me as I am, ironically, an only child. I guess you could call that lottery, but it hasn't happened yet.

0 everything I've ever had in my life I earned work for always took the hard way. Never the easy because when something is given to you you don't appreciate it. But when you go out there and earn it work for it. You appreciate it more. Take Medicare of it. That's what anything your home? Your car? Your woman. Your family. I never lost it after money. I never chased money. I never let it control my thinking of her my decisions in life. I never sacrificed my integrity. My ethics memorials for a dollar. I don't care about making billions and Bitcoin and all that. I'm not with that Long as me and my family well. My kids are grown now on their own but they live good. They had a damn good life I provided well for them, I don't need a gazillion dollars to define who I am but some people do and that's good for them. I don't knock that some people inherit money. Me when my mom passed My siblings they're just going at it and I told him I don't want it. I don't want any of it. I'll call her and what I have on nothing. Nobody giving me anything especially if you got to be like this. Y'all fight over it. Take it. Do what you want with it but I'm going to go earn my own time to get caught up. That kind of squabble man. People backstabbing each other just for somebody else's money so we could. They didn't earn it and you can go out there and fight for it and probably kill for it. No man, I like to earn my own and I don't like nothing that comes easy my way. That's just me always taking the hard way because anything is given to you. You don't respect you. Don't appreciate. You won't take care of what you go out in your earn work for. Take better care of it. I'll only say if you want to be a billionaire and all that hey man pursue it. That's your thing. Can't knock you for that me. All I wanted was a peaceful quiet life but I didn't get that now now all I want is peace, small town, quiet I've done all that was expected of me and more as a man now I just want peace

Around 3 mill Aud $$ , including in the 3 mill though is PPR ( which is leased ) value being a third of that , How did I make it? Sadly no lottery or inheritance , made it by selling land for 25 years , and building homes , and investing.

So the basis is property , so Direct property , property syndicates , listed REITs , unlisted REITs , .. In fully listed holding , financials , REITs , some mining.

Thats how I got here , honestly I fcked up a few times , it should be double that , I love compounding.

For 30 years, I contributed 11% of my gross income to a 401(k) and my company matched 6% of that. Plus, I put $2000 per year into 401(k) before I had that job.
My wife had a 401(k) from her years of self employment, and we both received a bit of inheritance from our parents, too.

I bought a condo in the '80s and sold it for a small profit.

My wife and I bought 30 acres of beautiful land in 2002 and built our home. It has appreciated in value.

I worked my butt off, made some great financial moves early on that paid off very well, owned a few businesses, have a great job that pays well and has good bennies, you never get rich working for someone else, real estate, there is only so much dirt, got lucky and was in the right place at the right time a few times and was able to capitalize on those opportunities.

I have been a saver my whole life. Even when I was only able to put 50 bucks a week into a savings account it was a habit I got into. I have a good (not great) amount of money in a retirement account and about a years' pay in a savings account. I do not own stocks anymore but I own two homes with no mortgages.
