i watched at a neighbor home, age 6? i couldn't understand why the kids laughed at these animals hitting each other.
i didn't know the word sadist at the time but that was the idea, i thought of those kids and the show writers.
the only part i liked was when the cat changed to the shape of the hit like a cookie cutter frame.
but the theme and the repeated hitting shocked me. aat a different neighbor we saw batman reruns, at least batman hit thugs who were sent to hit him.

I only watched it as the tiniest boy but I found the show so cute and endearing. There were some episodes I remember when Tom and Jerry actually became friendly with each other just for that one episode.
I loved those moments and they're the only ones I really remember were those rare moments they became friends.

Yes and as a kid i was always on Jerry side. But as an adult, i realize he was a true pest and Tom was just doing his job. Not really a fan of jerry as much anymore

  I still get a good chuckle out of it, too.
  One of my other fave T&J bits was, I think, in the cartoon where Jerry's two nephews always wanted to play Indians. One of them put a keg of gun powder in the back of Tom's pants and, he didn't know a trail of gunpowder was leaking from his pants and one of the kids lit the trail and he ran into a garage to hide fro, m then but, when it blew up, the four walls of the garage collapsed on him one at a time and then the roof fell on him, then the walls of the tiny vent at the top collapsed one at a time, then the roof on top of THAT fell!

Jerry always outsmarted Tom. Very few times when Tom got his revenge. For that reason I don’t really care for Tom and Jerry. Same thing for tweety. I intensely dislike that bird!
