Have you guys ever liked a youtuber/celebrity/etc only for them to actually be a terrible person?

had this happen a couple times to me. when i was a teen i was obsessed with onision.. like he was my favorite youtuber for years. also really liked shane dawson. and y'all know the stories...

there were also some singers i wasn't like obssessed with or anything at all but that i would listen to that i found out were pedos for two of them and another one was accused of murdering his girlfriend

Sasha Baron Cohen. I thought he was a comedic genius, until I found out he's a narcissist and pathological liar who broke the law and exploited people for comedy. While I still laugh at the original "Borat" and some of his "Bruno" skits, it's hard to look at those films and him the same way again. He literally ruined people's careers, lives and reputations with those bits, by lying to them about the premise of these projects. What pisses me the most is he's never been properly held accountable for his actions. The few instances where he was tried and lost, the amount of money he had to pay was pocket change for him. And if it wasn't bad enough that he lied to the people he was using in his movies, he even went as far as to make up a bullshit story on a talk show about how he allegedly got an interview with who he claimed was a real terrorist. And his latest political agenda was the final nail in the coffin. Absolutely horrible person.

Another one is Motley Crue. I still like their music and I don't have much of an issue with the other guys, but Vince Neil is a horrible person. He was never held accountable for the death of his friend in that drunk driving crash, and he abuses women and literally bragged on stage about how many women he's slept with. The guy seems to have no conscience.

But Reynolds was another one. He seemed like such a nice guy on screen, but then I found out he was a wife beater.

And Rick Steves surprisingly. While I still enjoy his programs, I lost respect for him after I found out he left his wife and kids to continue his career and in recent years he's gone woke and has more respect for Islamic extremists who hate the West then for blue collar Americans

I didn't know how bad trump really was, until my parents told me how bad of a person he really was. I've been a wwe fan for around 20 almost 30 years. He's in the hall of fame there, and has even been involved in some stuff with it, particularly wm 23, 17 years ago, when he shaved vinces head, because umaga lost to lashley

But, I didn't know about trumps history before then, so, at the time I was like, cool, he's playing a "good guy", but low and behold, the guys a pos in real life

I used to love Chris Brown until he beat Rihanna. I also liked Ashton Kutcher until I found out that he made disgusting comments about Mila Kunis when she was underage. He also defended Danny Masterson, so that was the end for me. 🤮🤮🤮

not like I put celebrities up on a pedestal, nor idolize them... nothing like that

but I sure like what a lot of entertainers do...

actors, artists, musicians, athletes... I enjoy many of these things, so I am sure that some of them might have done bad things that are known or not known...

so, for the most part... I just keep it to the entertaining side

but yes... there's a few I can't overlook and just won't enjoy the same, lol

There was this one reaction channel I enjoyed, but I had no idea a whole "community" on discord existed behind the scenes, and I recently saw a long video come out where the former editor went into great detail about the slander, abuse and business-maltreatement they endured from this reactor. That was a bit of a shock.

I've met a few internet personality individuals in person who I had watched/read. Most didn't act much differently than when on screen. That said, their contents were a combination of reason & evidence, investigative reporting and self-help.
