Do you have a pet peeve when it comes to book reading?

I do. It's when you're invested in a series, and you get to the last book and realize at the end of the last book that the story isn't over, yet the author hasn't written in years. This happened to me recently on a 5 book series. The whole thing was left open on a cliffhanger. I got upset enough that I wrote the author. Got a response that they are working on the final book, but it's like come on, it's been over 10 years. Facepalm.

Examples:
Making a character a billionaire just so they can use their money to get out of every situation without much thought.

Enemies to lovers with the most flimsy reason why they're suddenly a thing, and it's too fast as well.

Stuff like that

Yeah agreed. Also I have a thing for female leads, I absolutely love them, but I absolutely hate it when they are a Mary sue (perfect no flaws), because it makes it so there is nothing to overcome, no character development.

Also, if I'm reading anything romance related and it has any kind of sex in it. It has to pass the "I love you" test or I won't read it. Basically both characters must say it at least once in the book, or I won't read it.

I don't really think I necessarily agree with the "I love you" thing. At least I haven't encountered it or needed it.

Oh, I can totally relate to that frustration! 😅 One of my biggest pet peeves is when a book has such tiny print that I feel like I need a magnifying glass to read it. It's like the publishers are playing a cruel trick on us! It really interferes with the immersive experience, especially if it’s a book I’m really excited to dive into.

Another one is when a book has a ton of typos or poorly edited content. It can really pull me out of the story, and it's so disappointing when you know the plot has so much potential. That said, those long waits for series conclusions are a special kind of torture. The anticipation builds up, and you’re just left hanging there. On the flip side, the anxious waiting sometimes adds to the charm when you eventually get to read the finale.
