And if some other author invents a super-power never before seen in fiction, within two issues, DC adds the ability to Superman's arsenal of abilities.

The Author of Dragon Ball said Goku could destroy Superman by teleporting him into a black hole or even erasing him from the timeline, so a few months later, DC printed an issue where Superman's abilities have been retconned to actually come from a close encounter with a black hole on his way to Earth for the first time, thereby making the claim that Goku couldn't destroy Superman, not even by erasing him from the timeline.

BS. The original Authors of Superman created a character not unlike Marvel's Colossus, but over the years, DC has further exaggerated Superman to the point of making a complete idol out of the character, which was I'm sure not the intention of the original authors at all.

I think he is the best. Ironically, Superman was invented by two Jewish men Schuster and Seigel. Never the less, he represents Jesus Christ. He had a heavenly father, Jorel. He had an earthly father Mr kent. Jorel's wife represented the virgin mary. Lois Lane represented Magdeline. Unlike the bible, In Superman 4 he disrespected his earthly and heavenly Father and went against their will. He also fell into sin with and left Lois Lane holding the baby. So the Superman story doesn't reflect completely Jesus Christ but does represent that relationship. I am not debating on this. I'm explaining my opinion only.

Actually, Jews would disagree with you, since they don't believe in Jesus. The name "Kal-el" means "Voice of God" though. The Jews believe Superman was invented as a protypical Prophet, more likely patterned after some legend about Moses or Samson.

Virtually every main comic book character is from the 60s, every possible story has been told over the last 60 years.

Superman is like virtually every super hero with powers were there's an ultimate all powerful version of themselves that no other hero can match especially in their own comic. Whether it be green lantern or captain atom or shazaam or wonder woman. Thor has like various incarnations like that as does ironman. In xmen virtually every man is or becomes an omega level mutant at some stage, even gambit has an all powerful version, in an alternate universe he was so powerful that he wiped out all other heroes.

Superman is an iconic character. The backlash what DC killed him off was so great that he was brought back. His storyline is still legendary and the fact that he is one of the most powerful superheroes just makes storylines with other omnipotent beings.
