i think its one of the least interesting (read: worst) movies i ever saw

There are parts of it that are good. It looks good. It's a period piece.

However, the story is about racism and selling your soul to the devil for fame, based on the life of Robert Johnson. It's always a bad trade:

Its probably in the same vein as Black Panther.. Over hyped because it's a decent "Black" made movie.. I haven't seen sinner but its probably not bad, just Over hyped due to the music and the acting..

no, it was worse lol. let me give you a specific example. there is a scene of Smoke killing a snake, the type of attention they gave it youd think it has some major connection to the story, you know how they set the movie up, right... well, no it was just a random ass scene! the snake was no bad omen, nothing like that, it was just a random ass snake. and thats most of that movie

... and then it collapses for want of a denouement.

It's still head and shoulders above One Battle After Another, in my opinion.

It was a pretty weak best movie oscar field this year. I would have picked Bugonia. Last year was weak too, with the caveat that I'm yet to build up the energy to watch The Brutalist.
