The main character is a complete psychopath.
The show lasts several seasons and at no time does she ever learn to reign in her completely unhinged responses to her dreams and visions.
Despite literally dozens of examples of her visions being anywhere from a little off to completely off, she reacts to every single one as though it’s 100% true, accurate and infallible. She is flat out abusive in many of her reactions as she shouts her husband down for injecting even a little bit of rationale. She even attacks him a few times because of visions that she, through an abundance of past experiences, should slow down to realize are just plain impossible. She’s a malignant narcissist in her insistence that everything she sees is the only thing that matters in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
I find this particularly off putting because of the current sociopolitical climate in which millions of women are insisting that their feelings should justify the most deplorable behaviors and excuse them from the consequences of the same. I should have watched this show a decade ago.
Did you watch “Medium”? Did you find Allison Dubois as insufferable as i do?

A long time ago, it got boring.
Kinda reminds me of Ghost Whispers? Did you watch that show?
Yes, and i enjoyed “Ghost Whisperer”. First, i had a crush on Jennifer Love Hewitt when it was a fresh series. Second, the humor was more consistent. Third, and maybe most importantly, Melinda tempered her own responses to her ghosts and visions. She was rarely irrational and when she was, it was usually understandable. Allison is a psycho in more episodes than not, it seems.
I think the secondary characters and storylines were generally more interesting in “Ghost Whisperer” too. Though i think there’s more and better humor in “Medium”. It appears the shows ran concurrently. I wonder which was more popular when they were new.
Yes, i think it was more interesting too
I just checked. “Ghost Whisperer” had consistently better ratings. “Medium” started stronger, but quickly waned and didn’t keep up with its contemporary.
I did watch this. It was an okay show, biut like a lot of shows it got stale after a couple of years
I find that i’m enjoying the tangential stories more than the main story. The humor has improved too. I laugh out loud at Joe’s quips and interactions a lot.
Nope, never heard of it.
