How do you clasp this shut? Sandal/shoe with weird closure?

So I bought this heel sandal online and it has this weird metal hook closure. Probably a stupid question with a really simple answer, but how the hell do you close this? Lol

My guess is that the buckle is just decorative. The strap probably just loops through the clasp, but it's hard to tell from just these pictures

It looks like it goes under and locks in the hole

You have to clasp that hook beneath that clasp on the ankle strap. I've had shoes like theese, it's actually really practical.
