Started at 13. It wasn't embarrassing, the employees didn't bat an eyelash, they check out these kinds of things every day. It was just a black basic one. They're uncomfortable for the first couple of weeks and then you get used to it. I didn't tell my mom as she isn't very involved in my life, and my underwear choices aren't her concern. I do like thongs now, they're comfortable to the point where I don't notice them.

Aspiringdr: I just read an article about thongs and infections. it said wearing a thong if no problem unless.. 1. Your are prone to vaginal infections. 2. You have skin irritation issues. If you don't have a problem with either of these, then wearing a thong should be no problem.

@markscott interesting, thanks for sharing. I’ve heard how since thongs are all up in the buttcrack and with a lot of moving it can spread bacteria into the vagina. I’m sure it’s super rare as lots of girls wear them with no problems, but personally the risk outweighs the positives for me since I wouldn’t be able to visit a doctor if I did end up getting an infection.
