Some men carry the combination quite well, but I am not a fan of pink.
Some men believe that pink is a an essential colour in menswear (based on red historically being a masculine colour), but I rarely see it working well.
Personally, I am a proponent of white dress shirts. Even for less formal outfits.

You mentioned that you would wear pink to a formal event. I would be cautious about doing so. White is the most formal colour followed by blue. Depending on exactly how formal the event is, pink might be stretching it.

Pink is classically the 'third' color for men's shirts. (white is first, pale blue second). It works very well with the most common men's suit colors (blue and grey). So i -would- suggest getting pink shirts if you don't have any. They actually are easier to wear and use then most of the other less common colors (grey, purple, etc).

You mention wearing it at a formal event - a white shirt is a little more formal, so if the event is a -strict- suit and tie, i'd be aware pink shirt is pushing the 'fun 'end of things.

It's pretty common to see the pink shirt / blue suit combination. I used to have that years ago but I don't wear any pink shirts anymore.

It's a more casual choice. Charcoal or black suits are more typical for formal events, or blue suits with say a light blue or white shirt.

Omg yes suits r so hot but i dont rlly like the rose tie loll make sure u get it fitted properly tho cause too big/small can make a rlly big (and bad) difference

It would depend on your skin tone, how you carry yourself etc. I've seen guys that pull it off. Also, depends on the occasion?
