Shaving private area opposite of hair growth?

I tried to shave my pu*** in the same direction of hair growth but result was not clean. Hair was still obvious inches long. I had to shave in reverse to obtain 0 hair. But that will cause ingrown hair and pimples. I put baby oil after shaving to moisturize.
Any advices?

I'm gonna try and venture out something that might screw some people over. But for my face, I find it helpful to use shorter and more fussy strokes over long, sweeping strokes -- both with and against the grain. That's completely against conventional shaving wisdom for men but I find it actually irritates my face much less after and fewer ingrown hairs. Probably I'm doing the conventional thing wrong. But I really find that lots of repeated short strokes over an area irritates my face less and gets me a closer shave. Maybe some girls could benefit from trying that. Try it with caution.

That's with a standard safety razor. I do use a straight razor sometimes when I have extra time and mood but with safety razor, I really find it helpful to keep the strokes short, fussy, don't worry about going over the same area multiple times.

But keep your touch light, not heavy. It is multiple strokes because they're light -- don't press down on razor so hard.

Also, I do better at least with my style with classic 2 blades, maybe 3. But not 4+. Those thick razors don't let me make those fine-tuned delicate sketchy-motions over the area. But it's like, "Shav-shav-shaveeee". 1-2-3333... like someone who isn't confident at making a bold stroke with a pencil on a sketchpad. You get a fussy rhythm and I find it helps over gliding the razor across in one smooth stroke. Break the rules. That said, as a disclaimer, I only know this works for me. If a girl tries this and her crotch is burning and itchy for the following week, my bad. But if what you did before is not working too well, maybe this is something to try.
