I believe they do exist but they’re not as dramatic as everyone thinks they are unless they have their makeup, hair, or body done differently than how they used to.

Yes, I've seen it a lot (as well as the other way around, unfortunately).

Fortunately, I've experienced it, in more ways than just appearance. I was an overweight, poorly dressed, goofy/dorky and socially awkward teenager whose life was a mess, partially due to just being a teenager but also mostly due to being on SSRIs I never should've been on and that did nothing but harm to me. Some of the adults in my life were very concerned about my future and a few even said I'd never be able to make it on my own and take care of myself (I have no clue why they thought this, but they did). I was also bullied and made fun of A LOT. Well, now I've lost the weight, dress a little better (I still primarily dress for comfort, lol), got off of the stupid meds, have matured and grown a lot, really got my life together and am very successful for my age and have made good decisions, and now I'm doing better for myself than anyone could've imagined when I was younger. Last time I ran into my high school bullies, they were pissed as hell about it, lol. One thing is for sure, life has a funny way of turning things around, and how things are in high school means NOTHING, and it usually always changes afterwards.

As far as the physical appearance part, it doesn't really feel drastically different other than that I feel more confident in my appearance now, but it's nice to look back and see I've improved. As for how I've changed as a person, I'm very proud and much happier. I'm glad to say I am glad to be where I am in life and have no desire to relive the past or escape my present life.
