Yess they definitely care! Sometimes us girls will even confer each other if we're upset about a guy getting a haircut. ex:
Girl 1: John got a haircut today :(
Girl 2: Omg does it look good or bad?
Girl 1: It doesn't look good :(
Girl 2: Darn why'd he have to do that
