Its always been a look that is a Sexual elegance , and crosses into many formal occasions as well as casual events , so many different looks and options.

It depends the event and if it's appropriate for that event or environment.
I would wear a dress with a slit to a formal event.(the length of the slit also makes a diffence).

Mini slit when I am out as casual attire.

Not to business events, it could be way too distracting and people judge you and don't take you seriously according to dress code.
