Would you consider getting laser eye surgery? I was thinking about it but it's too expensive and most insurance don't cover it?

Hi, depends on what kind of laser eye surgery you are thinking about. I was wearing a contact lense that was made specifically for someone with the shape eyeball that I have (Stigmatism) and that manufacturer stopped supporting that particular lense

I had to do something, because the other lense options did not correct my sight.

My optometrist suggested laser surgery, to correct the stigmatism and replace the lense. It WAS pricey, 1800.00 each eye, and since I was wearing a Monovision lense, (right eye for reading, and left eye for distance) he corrected my vision with new lenses the same way
It was perfect, but as you indicated, it is costly, and I had to bite the bullet. My insurance paid a portion, but I had to pay the rest

I have seen videos about what it really is. You are having the tissue in your eye burned so that it changes shape and bends light differently. This is what refocuses your eye. It is a destructive process and I don't think I would take a chance with my only set of eyes. My ophthalmologist recommended bifocal contact lenses. He told me that is what he wears.

I have good eyes so won't ever need that but my husband is getting lasik next month. I'll tell you how it goes.

one day your vision will change. Almost no ones stays perfect past 50

@notwoke that could be true but I don't know my mom still has good vision and she is almost 60 so hoping I have her eyes

A good key to remember, is that 'close up" READING vision is what we seem to lose first.

You don't have to be "old" to lose reading vision. You probably have 10- 12 years to see the change in vision.

if I ever need them, I rather try glasses first and maybe I end up liking them, if not... then I´ll just fry my eyeballs with the laser

I thought about it but found out it is not good for your night vision. I already have poor night vision, so I passed.
